Belted galloway cattle or 'Belties', are a heritage beef breed introduced into the US from the rugged hills and coastlines of Scotland and date back to the 16th century. They are a medium sized beef breed, polled (no horns), and have a shaggy double coat that keeps them toasty warm in harsh winter weather. Our registered herd is grass-fed and steers grass-finished. The breed is listed as “recovering” in the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy priority list.
Individual cuts of grass-fed beef are available from our stall at the Ithaca Farmers Market. As well halves and quarters are available several times per year. Contact us for further information.
